Presently a significant amount of Jeremy Wisot's practice is devoted to analysis, counsel and document preparation for individual clients on plans for transfer of wealth, during life or following death, including wills and testamentary trusts, revocable "living" trusts and irrevocable trusts, as well as the processing of estates and trusts through probate administration. His clients vary from persons with limited assets who just want to make sure what will happen if they die unexpectedly to those with significant estates who need a plan tailored to take advantage of the techniques available to reduce the burden of estate taxes.
 

• Assist personal representative in processing administration of decedent’s estate or trust, including determinations required for allocating assets and funding marital, QTIP and exemption trusts

• Prepare and file documents required to be filed with court

• Appear at hearings and present position of personal representative

• Negotiate with creditors and attempt to settle disputed claims

• Assist personal representative or trustee with record-keeping, including marshalling and inventory of assets and accountings

• Prepare necessary tax returns, including federal estate tax return, if required

• Advise trustee on issues pertaining to trust administration, including matters requiring court supervision
